The
republic of Cuba is one of only few socialist states. China is a communist
country, but I think it is a successful communist nation based on capitalism.
(Now, China is not a real communist country, but it introduces a capitalist
idea based on socialism, isn’t it?)
Cuba
reminds me of Che Guevara, Fidel Castro, the Caribbean Sea, Cigar, La Habana,
Buena Bista social club, and more… I found a lot of stories about the social
club, so I dare not follow it. I think it has been over 10 years since this
movie was released. This is a documentary movie and tells a story about Cuban
music, a passion of people who love the music, and another performance.
The
Cuban revolution was caused by the crowd and the public from below, but several
Korean revolutions came from above. There are some similarities and differences
between two countries’ revolution. For example, there are pro-Americanism and
anti-Americanism in two countries. However, the method and concept of the
revolution are really different.
When the Cuban music was under the vestiges of
the Cuban revolution for more than ten years, most musicians must do others
than music. It didn’t matter whether they were pro-Americanism or
anti-Americanism. What did the revolution have to do with music? In fact, a
passion for music had nothing to do with it… Ry Cooder who planned a Buena
Bista social club was supposed to expect to enjoy music with African musicians
and Cuban people.
However, the African musicians couldn’t come to Cuba so that
only the Cuban musicians made this work. If he produced Cuban music and African
music as he did so, it would have been better than this or might have made a
documentary music that no one knew. According to Ruben Gonzalez, he didn’t go
around a piano for about ten years. After then, he played the piano and touched
the audiences with his wonderful performance.
At that time he appeared on the
movie, he showed his new passion for music in his 90-year-old age. I really
recommend this movie for everyone because I was really touched by it even
though I didn’t know music really well. The movie, Buena Bista social club…
Suddenly, I was reminded of the movie in Yiwu, China on a rainy day.
Never
forget the movie and people who watched it with me… I have just started a day
with the Cuban music, enjoying the time.
I can’t find them at all, but their
passions for music that would stay with them forever are really worth as great
as a passion of Fidel Castro and Che Guevara for the revolution.
