A new strategy is for a new unit…

Another big star disappeared again. MSN took over Nokia and released a new brand, Microsoft Mobile, not using the original name of Nokia.

Yesterday’s no.1 is not today’s number one. Even though someone is doing well at school, the person will not be always successful in our society.
The number one brand’s collapse will change a mobile company to a software development one. Motorola and Nokia became affiliated with Microsoft Inc…. There are only Samsung and LG left.

I read a book, ‘Good to great,’ written by James C. Collins, and I have been inspired by a great company’s success story for a long time.
However, the financial crisis started in Wall Street in 2008, and several firm companies, such as Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, Fannie Mae, and Freddy MAC failed in a second or received the bailout money.

James C. Collins might be surprised at this situation because he didn’t expect that successful businesses from a good company to a great one were sold or dismembered at any moment. Nonetheless, he published a new book, ‘How the mighty fall?’ in 2010 and set out his logical argument that the number one businesses are likely to fail.

I can’t say that Collins misjudged or had a wrong insight into this. In fact, how did he know that the great businesses changed into an insignificant one?
He said again, ‘whether to drive on without a stop or not, to fail or succeed, and to lead for a long time or ruin depends on itself, not on the surrounding environment. I can’t criticize Nokia’s foolish strategy.

In some points, Nokia rightly judged the situation. MS might build up the better foundation to run a mobile business than Nokia has with the rapidly changing times. However, Nokia dreams of establishing a new business with money from a business sale.
They want to change a mobile company into a software development enterprise.

It is true that the rich can be well-off for at least three years even though they go down.
